(with Michael Arabian) From Booking to the Set. This course prepares the actor to know how to work within the confines and distractions of a film/TV set in order to give a performance that you and the director will be happy with. The actor will learn how to breakdown a script and do character work by putting themselves in the director’s shoes. The actors will be directed in different ways to get a sense of how different directors work.

Each week (3-4 hours per class) over 12 weeks, we will advance the process from being cast to wrapping on set. Scenes from screenplays will be broken down and character work developed, and then brought to the set. A basic set environment will be created with available furniture, props, costumes and scenic pieces. Actors will never rehearse together outside of class because in the industry actors meet for the first time on set. The actors will be directed in different ways. Basic lights and camera will then be brought in to shoot the scenes with the whole class working as crew and extras. Scenes will be reviewed by the class on a monitor during the shooting.
